Weekly Photo Project

I have not been in the photography mindset for quite some time. My mind has been preoccupied with writing and, as of late, the upcoming school semester. As such, I feel like my creativity, as far as photography is concerned, is dwindling.

To help the matter, Chris and I have decided to do a weekly photography project together. It will help both him to improve his understanding of his new cameras and lenses, and also help us both to expand our creativity; this marks our first week. We pick a random word from the dictionary, and then interpret it however we choose. Then, on Sunday, we post the photograph. We then explain how we interpreted the word, thus coming up with our image. This week’s word is oblate*.

To prepare for the project, I've taken the liberty of creating a new gallery for the work. I do not know if they will be on the same level as my other work, but I will strive to make them the best they can be, of course. Accounting for the smaller-than-average timeframe for the project, the photos will be entirely digital, no film—which is, inherently, different to how I normally work.

Continuing on the theme of photography, I am looking to purchase a Mamiya RB67 Pro-S or Pro-SD this autumn. I do not own a medium format camera anymore, so I really need to purchase another. Rather than spend the money on a Hasselblad, I think I would rather try my hand with a Mamiya. Stay tuned!

*Oblate n. : A person offered to the service of and living in a monastery, but not under monastic vows or full monastic rule. Originates from the Medieval Latin oblātus, suppletive past participle of offerre.
